DON'T HIRE A HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST

Without asking these 3 tough questions!

Question Number One

What steps will you take to ensure I like my hair and makeup?

There is more to creating the perfect wedding day look than just being good at hair and makeup.

A great artist and a true professional will do a complete consultation with you before they ever touch your hair or face to make sure that they are fully aware of all of your likes, dislikes, and concerns.

They will also take into consideration all of the factors that go into creating the perfect wedding day look such as your hair type, face shape, dress style, and wedding theme...just to name a few.

What you should look for in a great stylist is, not only the answer they give you to this question but how they react to it. If your stylist seems put off or confused by the question, that could be a red flag.
A seasoned professional is going to be able to quickly and confidently answer this question and not make you feel uncomfortable for asking it in the first place.

Question Number Two

What style of hair and makeup do you specialize in?

When you ask a stylist this question, most will tell you that they can do ANY type of hair and makeup.

While this may be true, most artists are best at the type of hair and makeup that they personally like the most.

An artist that has their client's best interest in mind will be forthcoming as to what style of hair and makeup they like best and that they specialize in.

Whether your style is extremely minimalist, high drama and glamour, or clean and classic with just a touch of glam (which btw, is our specialty at First Blush Beauty) don't be afraid to put your stylist on the spot and ask them what they specialize in. Otherwise, you could risk ending up with a wedding day look that makes you look like someone you are not and has you feeling awkward and uncomfortable all day.

Question Number Three

What happens if I don't like my hair and makeup at my trial?

You did your research and booked who you thought was the perfect hair and makeup artist only to be left disappointed with your hair and makeup trial. What now?

Hopefully, this doesn't happen to you but, better to be safe than sorry and broach the subject with your stylist just in case.

A great stylist isn't going to take your unhappiness or disappointment personally. They know that a lot of factors go into creating the perfect wedding day hair and makeup and the fact that they maybe didn't hit the mark the first time won't phase them.

When you book your beauty services with an established company that specializes in wedding hair and makeup, they should have specific policies and procedures for when this happens AND they should not be shy in sharing these policies and procedures with you!

In case you are wondering, at First Blush Beauty, we guarantee our hair and makeup trials. If you are not happy for any reason, we will first discuss the details with you so that we can get a better idea of where the miscommunication may have been and then do another trial at no extra cost to you!

We hope that our tips have helped and if we haven't done so already, we would be happy to personally answer these questions for you before you book so that you can have complete peace of mind and confidence in your decision!
